Our Lady of Fatima - A Symbol of Devotion and Faith.

Image
Our Lady of Fatima is a revered figure in the Catholic faith, and her story is one of the most well-known and celebrated Marian apparitions. The apparitions occurred in the early 20th century in Portugal and were witnessed by three young shepherd children: Lucia dos Santos and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto. In this blog post, we will explore the story of Our Lady of Fatima and the significance of her message. The apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima began on May 13, 1917, when the three children were tending their sheep near the town of Fatima. According to their accounts, a bright light appeared, and they saw a lady dressed in white, holding a rosary. The lady asked the children to pray the rosary and to come back to the same spot on the 13th day of each month for the next six months. During the subsequent visits, the lady revealed herself to be the Blessed Virgin Mary and shared messages with the children. She asked them to pray for the conversion of sinners, to make sacrific...

HOOPS vs HUGGIES

Image
Hoo ps & Huggies the same? Which one is better?  those are two questions we often hear at our Boutique... The answer is not as simple as it may seem. All Huggies are Hoop earrings, but not all hoop earriengs are huggies... and as for which is better, it is a very personal choice, but maybe this short blog will help you deside!   Hoop earrings have to open at some point in order for them to be placed on an ear.   A huggie is a hinged hoop earrings where the post of the hoop is locked to the back of the hoop. Both  are worn in pierced ears but the huggies have a hinge at the bottom of the earring that allows the post to open and close without an earring back.  A hoop is a circle, and while they have to open at some point to be placed on an ear, it’s the idea of the circle that has given them a meaning; a circle is infinite, like time. Thant’s why hoops are so symbolic!.  They have been around about as long as jewelry itself, dating as far back a...

WHAT’S 18K GOLD AND WHY IS IT BETTER

Image
People often ask us why do we make our jewelry only in 18K Gold, the answer is simple, it is the best in quality and color!. Gold is the most malleable of all precious metals which makes it an excellent choice for crafting designs with intricate details. It’s also resistant to rust, tarnish and corrosion, which makes it durable and therefore more valuable. Pure gold is too soft for everyday wear, so it’s alloyed with a mixture of silver, copper and a trace of zinc, to give it strength and durability.  When measuring gold, jewelry makers use the ‘karat’ grading system to designate purity. 24 karat is 100% pure, meaning it contains no other alloyed metals. There is no higher level of gold purity than 24K. 18K gold is made up of 75% pure gold and 25% other metals, while 14K and 10K gold contain 58.3% and 41.7% pure gold, respectively.  Because pure 24K gold isn’t alloyed with other metals, it is a soft material that can bend, warp and scratch easily. It is for this reason ...
